Signs of Aggressive Anger

Aggressive anger - bullyingAggressive anger is more obvious than passive anger. Do you have any of the following?

  • Bullying – threatening people directly or using power to oppress. This includes driving someone off the road, pushing and shoving, shouting, persecuting and manipulating people’s weaknesses.
  • Destructiveness – destroying objects, reckless driving, ruining relationships, harming animals and substance abuse.
  • Hurtfulness – physical violence including sexual abuse and rape, verbal abuse including using foul language, breaking a confidence, ignoring people’s feelings, discriminating and labeling others.
  • Threats – frightening someone, finger pointing, fist shaking, wearing clothes or symbols associated with violent behavior.
  • Vengeance – refusing to forgive and forget, bringing up painful memories from the past and being over-punitive.

Often people who carry this type of anger have been hurt in the past and they were not allowed to express their emotions at the time the original incident took place.  Later events trigger those hurt emotions and the person takes out his or her anger on whomever or whatever happens to be present at the time.

The emotions from the past can be released – often quickly in just a few EFT sessions. Why carry around the anger and rage? When you are ready to let it go and feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders, you are ready to pick up the phone and make an appointment. I look forward to helping you feel better. Emotions with Anger

People have incidences where an event occurs and they feel angry about what happened. Later, other emotions arise which they don’t associate with the original event.

How can you manage anger when you don’t know exactly which emotions are related to anger?

Last week I had a client session with a person who was feeling completely overwhelmed with life. The person said this feeling had been present for several years and didn’t know where the feeling originated.  One tool which I use in some of my sessions is muscle testing.

Muscle testing allows an individual to test different verbal statements as being truthful as determined by the subconscious mind.  What does that mean? Learning what it thinks can help release different conditions. The subconscious mind knows when every event took place in your lifetime. So you can ask it questions about when an emotion first appeared. This allows the client to uncover the originating event and release those emotions.

In this case, we used muscle testing to determine when the emotion of feeling overwhelmed first occurred. Ten years ago something happened which was overwhelming. The client thought for a few minutes and remembered that a doctor had prescribed a medicine which had caused a change in the voice of the client. The client gave voice lessons and when the change occurred, the lessons had to stop and part of the client’s income was taken away.  The client was enraged and overwhelmed.

The conscious mind suppressed and stuffed the rage down inside, but the subconscious gave a constant reminder by making the client feel overwhelmed all the time.  Suppressing anger is never healthy and the subconscious wanted it released. Once that memory of the event was recalled, then we could address the anger, rage and feelings of being overwhelmed by the situation. The rage was at the doctor and the rage was directed to the client; there was self blame for going to that particular doctor.

At the end of the first session, the client said the feeling of being overwhelmed had lessened dramatically. Plus the client learned how to properly muscle test. Muscle testing can be used for a wide variety of things including testing food for food allergens.

One session, great change. This client will have two more sessions to completely clear all issues surrounding that particular incident. Often the originating incident is a trigger for later emotions. That means clearing an earlier incident will also clear emotions from other events.

~ Another way to say it: you aren’t always angry for the reasons you think.

Jack Canfield describes how when we hold on to the past, it is like holding a big stack of books. If someone wants to give you a new book, a new exciting chapter for you life, you first have to put down the books you have to receive the new book.

If you can only watch the first 5 minutes you will learn how EFT enables you to set down those books representing experiences from the past so that you can accept better things for your future. EFT can help you release anger and rage quickly and easily.  EFT focuses on anger release, not just anger management.

Wheel of Emotions

People feel a wide range of emotions on a daily basis and often those emotions can be confusing. Robert Plutchik created a wheel of emotions diagram showing how emotions move from mild to intense. Emotions can change in just seconds depending upon what is happening.

If we look at the left side of the wheel, we see aggressiveness and contempt. The emotion which grows out of aggressiveness and contempt is annoyance. Annoyance can then intensify to anger and eventually rage.

When we look into the core of the wheel, we see both positive intense emotions: vigilance, ecstasy, admiration, and amazement as well as negative intense emotions: rage, loathing, grief, and terror. But when we consider each emotion, it is easy to see that these are emotional states we don’t want to stay in for long periods of time. We don’t want to go about our days in a constant state of amazement or admiration; just as we don’t want to be in constant grief or rage.

Ideally, we learn to release the intense emotions so we can move back to the emotions at the outer rim of the wheel. Here at Anger Management & Release, we specialize in helping people move from rage and anger back to the outer rim of the wheel to less intense emotions.
